5 Simple Ways To Get Better Sleep

If you clicked on this article, then I am assuming you are wondering how to get better sleep. Lacking in the sleep department is no fun for anyone, trust me–I would know! This is not professional advice, just tips and tricks that I have found to be helpful over the years. As someone who has struggled with sleep their entire life, I have tried many things. I figured I may as well share some of them in the hopes that it could help someone!

White Noise

Or pink noise, or brown noise, or whichever noise you find the most soothing. I first discovered this while sleeping with a fan on in the summer. Since then I always need some kind of even noise in the background while sleeping. If you too find it hard to fall and stay asleep, try setting a white noise track before getting into bed. Keep the Room Temperature Cool

Keep the Room Dark

If you’re anything like me, even the smallest amount of light will bother you at night. To minimize this problem I suggest getting an alarm clock with a dimming feature, black-out curtains, and removing electronics before sleep time.

No Screen-Time an Hour Before Bed

I have found that refraining from screen-time an hour before bed helps me get to sleep easier. This is due to the melatonin blocking affects of blue light. Read about it here: How Blue Light Hurts Sleep

Maintaining a Bedtime

Along with refraining from screen-time before bed, maintaining a regular bedtime is probably the most affective way to get better sleep. To help with getting used to going to bed at the same time, establishing a bedtime routine is also helpful. This could be as simple as having a warm bath, a cup of sleepy-time tea, and reading.
