5 Ways to Exercise Without Noticing

Hitting the gym or signing up for cross-fit is not for everyone, but that doesn’t mean you can’t reap the benefits of exercise too. Even if you do not enjoy working out, there are ways to get exercise without noticing. You can sneak it into your days by building healthy habits. Before you know it, you’ll be exercising without noticing it and getting in your 30 minutes of recommended physical activity a day with ease.

1) Explore

You don’t have to be away from home to explore. Go and walk around new neighborhoods, visit museums in your hometown, or try a new trail. Exploring is a great way to get steps in without noticing!

2) Walk

Walk. Just walk. Park your car farther away from your destination than usual, walk to the corner store instead of drive. Get off the bus a stop early. Take your meeting on the go. Just make it a habit to walk more, and before you know it, it will become a habit and something you just do more of.

3) Clean the House

We all have cleaning and household chores to do everyday. Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning the bathroom, are all physical activities. Do that deep clean you’ve been putting off; you’ll burn calories and have a nice clean home to show for it!

4) Yoga

Yoga is something I initially started as a way to relax and have some time to myself. I didn’t really think of it as “working out”, but it is. You could join a yoga class, or practice yoga in the comfort of your home–all you need is a 5) Play Active Games

Not all Exercise Means a Traditional Workout

While it is recommended to get 30 minutes of exercise a day, that doesn’t have to be done all at once, and it doesn’t have to be intense or vigorous. You can get in your exercise without noticing. When you think about it, many “everyday” activities can really count. Are you on your feet? Are you moving? Then you’re probably doing more than you think, and maybe you can make a few adjustments and squeeze in even more exercise without noticing.
