No Knead Bread

Artisan bread fresh out of the oven.

I was searching around the internet for a low effort bread recipe to try, and came across Gimme Some Oven’s No Knead Bread Recipe. It looked “hands off” in exactly the way I was searching for, and so I decided to give it a go. Considering it was nearly midnight I did the overnight version, and made a few alterations to the method and recipe that I will share with you here. Trust me, this recipe is foolproof, delicious, and will shock you at your own abilities! I will no longer buy bread–it’s that good and low effort.

Let’s Get Started On Our No Knead Bread

Step 1: Add your flour, salt, and yeast to a large bowl; mix to combine. Add your water at 110°F to the bowl and stir until no flour streaks remain. The dough will be sticky and shaggy. Cover with saran wrap and a towel, and leave to rise for 12-18 hours.

Sticky and shaggy dough.

After the dough has risen overnight it should like this:

Step 2: Place your dutch oven into the oven, and preheat it to 450°F. While the oven comes up to temperature, begin to prepare your dough by transferring it to a clean and lightly floured surface.

Sprinkle dough with flour and fold the outer edges in towards the middle until the dough becomes more elastic and is able to retain its shape. It should look like this:

Place dough onto parchment paper (to make transferring it to the dutch oven easier) and cover the dough with saran wrap so it does not dry out. Let it rest for 20-30 minutes while the oven comes up to temperature.
Step 3: Carefully, and with oven mitts (it will be extremely hot!!) remove your dutch oven from the oven and transfer the dough into it.

Step 4: Bake dough covered for 30-35 minutes, then for an additional 10-20 minutes uncovered until desired crispiness is reached. Let the dough cool down for at least 30 minutes before slicing, then enjoy!
