Why You Need These In Your Life

This dinner roll recipe is so popular around here, that I couldn’t even get a picture before one of them disappeared! Have I mentioned yet that they can be ready in under an hour? Yes, you heard that right! Home made dinner rolls that are ready in UNDER an hour! They are perfect for the holidays amongst all the chaos of trying to juggle everything at once, or even just for a weeknight dinner when you want a little something extra.

Are you sold yet? Because I am. Read on for the instructions on how to make these wonderful rolls.

Instructions

Step 1:

This is a one-bowl recipe, so you’re going to need a large mixing bowl to combine all the ingredients in. Once you have your bowl, you will need a wooden spoon or a tool of your choice to mix everything with. Once you have your bowl and mixing tool, you will combine 500 ml of the flour, yeast, salt and sugar (or honey if you would prefer). Mix to combine.

Step 2:

Next, you will add your very warm water (about 120°F – 130°F) I like to add the oil to the water for the sake of efficiency. Stir to combine this, it will form into a very sticky and wet dough. This is where you will gradually add the remaining flour until a soft dough starts to form. You may not use all of the remaining flour here, but no worries. If you have any leftover, you can sprinkle it on the counter to knead your dough on. You will knead your dough for approximately 6 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.

Step 3:

Place your dough back into the bowl and cover it with saran wrap and/or a damp towel. Place it in a warm area to rise for at least 10 minutes (I like to place my bowl on top of the preheating oven). If you have more time you can let it rise for longer, but 10 minutes should be sufficient.

Once your dough has risen for 10 or more minutes, it should be doubled in size and look something like this:

This is when you will divide the dough into 8 equal parts and form each into a ball; cover each one in a light layer of olive oil; arrange in your oiled baking dish, and bake until golden brown (approximately 20 minutes). Once you remove your rolls from the oven, promptly brush each one with butter or more olive oil for a soft roll.
